History

Opened in 2015, Steeples is not only a vegetarian café but also an independent retail store selling organic vegetables and locally sourced artisan foods. Located in the heart of Nenagh’s Historic Quarter on O ’Rahilly Street overlooked by the magnificent church of St Mary of The Rosary to the rear, Steeples is owned by Bridget and Noel Duggan.

Steeples has a fantastic retail offering and our newly refurbished Café now with seating upstairs, focuses mainly on delicious and nutritional vegetarian food with most of our ingredients being organic and sourced locally when in season mostly from Shanbally Organic Farm.

Café

Our café area is truly unique, a café with plenty of character and authenticity. Decorated with carefully selected and rescued pieces of salvaged materials from churches and places of worship that would otherwise have been left in storage yards unclaimed and unloved. A nod to our neighbour, Church of Saint Mary of the Rosary.

Our Courtyard is the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee, cake and chat with a friend on a sunny day.

Our food is organic and mostly vegetarian, and we have truly delicious and nutritious snacks to go with your coffee or herbal tea, ranging from granola bars to chia seed chocolate cookies and a variety of different types of cakes. Looking for a cake for a special occasion? Why not order your cake from Steeples – carrot, chocolate, coffee, fresh cream – whatever you fancy, we can make it!!! We are open everyday for breakfast, lunch and coffee and change our dishes regularly ranging from Mexican, Thai, Italian and traditional Irish. Bookstore

Our bookshop is the cornerstone of Steeples. Being independent we can be carefully selective of the range of books we feature. Our core focus is on books related to mind, body and spirit – covering nurturing the spirit from within, stress management, mindfulness and gaining appreciation of spiritual approaches.

There is a great area dedicated to nutrition and lifestyle choices with books on how to avoid or cut out sugar, to gluten free as well as books focusing on wholesome recipes to keep us all thriving at optimal health while not losing out on taste and enjoyment.

Customers will be able to buy fresh organic vegetables grown on Shanbally Farm and purchase locally sourced artisan foods such as chocolate, chutneys and honey.
